Myopia Awareness

Myopia (nearsightedness) is on the rise. We aren’t exactly sure what the cause is, but everyone seems to agree that it is increasing at an alarming rate. Through the years myopia has been corrected with glasses, contact lenses, and even laser surgery. But because of this increase, eye doctors are looking at how to slow down the progression of myopia. It’s not something to just correct, it is now something that needs to be managed.

As a child grows, their natural growth leads to an increase in myopia. Eyes that are moderate to severely nearsighted are likely to experience other vision concerns such as retinal issues, cataracts, and glaucoma.
