Stretch, yawn, today I will work on my vision. “Vision is hard work,” Meowmy always says. But she also says, “It’s worth it.”
So I give myself a quick bath and get ready to start my vision exercises.
To be honest, I mostly cat nap all day! So exercising doesn’t sound like fun to me.
However...
Today, I’m starting my vision adventure! Everything is way more fun when it’s an adventure.
The first adventure I did was look at beads on a string. Which was fun because I LOVE strings! It’s hard for me to hold things up to my nose, so Meowmy helped me. I had to hold the string up to my nose and look at the beads. I looked at the red bead first, WOAH... It looked like 2 strings going into the bead and 2 coming out. Meowmy said this was good and this was because I have 2 eyes. She had me practice looking back and forth between the beads on the string.
One time I reached out with my paw and batted at the bead, but apparently that’s not allowed. She reminded me that although this was fun, it wasn’t play time and “my work makes my eyes work.”
My next adventure was my favorite because I got to wear some cool glasses. I LOVE wearing glasses! These were different because one lens was green and the other lens was red. Isn’t that silly? Meowmy said, these glasses will help my eyes work better together! She showed me a chart with ALL of my favorite things! All I had to do was tell her what I saw. Mouse, glasses, fish, mmmmm... milk! But one time, what I saw disappeared! Meowmy told me to blink a few times, and guess what? It came back! That was paw-some!
My next adventure was with a ball! I love chasing balls and mice too! Meowmy had a ball on a string and she moved it back and forth. I wasn’t allowed to touch, just watch with my eyes without moving my head. Meowmy had to remind me a couple of times not to move my head, it was hard to remember. Then she let me bap the ball with my paw as it was moving. I could tell my eyes were working hard!
Next Meowmy held up a stick for me to look at. Guess what was on the stick? I’ll give you a hint, it rhymes with mouse...
It WAS a mouse! Meowmy said I had to stare at the mouse for a long time and not let it get out of my sight. “I am really good at this,” I thought. One time I stared at a fly on the wall for almost an hour!
So I stared and stared, then she said, “It’s gonna move now, so keep watching it.” And I did, I watched it the whole time as Meowmy moved the mouse around, pretending it was trying to run away. My tail was twitching and my bottom started to wiggle but I didn’t pounce on it!
My last adventure for the day was taking two kitties and making one! I stared at these two pictures of cats. They were funny because one had no whiskers and the other had no glasses. But when I stared at them long enough and tried really hard, I made one kitty! And then there were three! And guess what? That kitty looked just like me! Meowmy said I was doing something called “fusing” and that was really good!
That was hard work!
In fact, my eyes were getting a little tired. Meowmy told me that when you exercise, you sometimes get tired, but that happens right before you get stronger and she said it was the same with my eyes! She said my eyes were getting stronger and my vision was getting better! My adventure had to end for today, but I get to do it again tomorrow!
